We are now over halfway through the UK general election campaign. How are you doing?
Are you flagging? Are you sick of TV debates and manifesto launches and idiotic photo ops? Will you lose it the next time you hear the words “toolmaker” or “Institute for Fiscal Studies”?
Elections can feel like a long haul. But now, halfway through, the delineation of each party’s position is pretty clear. As are the dynamics of each party’s campaign.
So, how have things gone so far? And how will they pan out between now and July 4?
I’m inviting you to ask me anything about the general election.
The campaign strategies. The personalities. The policy choices. The gambles. The gambits. The likely next steps.
You ask the questions. I will come up with answers as best I can using my 30 years of experience as a political journalist.
Together we will try to make some sense of the 2024 general election, which is already looking like a landmark moment in British politics and possibly Scottish politics too.

Looking forward to your questions.
To me the biggest issue is lack of honesty around tax and funding. It is clear that neither of the main parties can tackle the systemic issues around poverty etc. Unless they are prepared to rethink their economic strategy we will just have more of the same problems.
